Aarti is a Hindu religious ritual. Its origin is the Vedic idea of offering light to the deity. In this ceremony, a small amount of ghee or other similar-looking material is offered to the god. This is done to ensure that the god receives a small amount of material. The idea is that the material is used to fuel the fire that is in the altar. The material is believed to be consumed by the fire and the deity is believed to receive a pleasant smell. The idea of offering fire to the deity is believed to be from ancient times. The modern form of this ritual is called Aarti. This is done as a part of puja.
In the modern era, this ritual is no longer restricted to the Hindu religion. Aarti is also performed as a part of worship in other religions.
